Industry icon Nigel Townshend appointed to UMS board of directors

United Mining Services Group, a multi-disciplinary specialist underground mining as well as metallurgical processing services company, is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Nigel Townshend as Non-Executive Chairman to the Board of UMS Ltd (UK) as of 1 April 2023.

Nigel Townshend

An entrepreneur at heart, Nigel founded civil and structural design firm TWP in 1982, which provided engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) services to the mining industry. He listed the company on the JSE in 2007.  The firm was involved in most shafts sunk during the shaft-sinking boom in South Africa at the beginning of the millennium. Since selling the Company Nigel has pursued numerous interests in both the mining and non-mining related fields.  Acknowledged in the mining fraternity as an industry expert, Nigel has spent a considerable amount of time advising companies and individuals on business strategy.

With his deep industry knowledge and experience Nigel will undoubtedly contribute significantly to an already impressive body of industry experts within the UMS Group.
