The 'beautiful and secluded' mineral pools only accessible by boat – Stuff

A quick chat with Nicky Gaddum, client manager at Matangi Angus Beef.
Everyone needs to visit the Manupirua Springs Hot Pools at Lake Rotoiti. These mineral pools can only be accessed by boat – and are a very special place for our family. They are beautiful and secluded and there is also a slide for the kids (young and old) that goes straight into Lake Rotoiti.
We have friends with a bach that is tucked away at Mangakuri Beach in Hawke’s Bay. It’s an hour from Havelock North but there are only a handful of houses on this beautiful rustic beach. It is remote and stunning and on a calm evening it’s like being on a Pacific Island.

Red Bridge Coffee in the Tukituki Valley, Hawke’s Bay is our favourite spot. We are fortunate to have this little gem on our doorstep. It’s run by great people serving award-winning Hawthorne coffee and delicious treats – it’s a daily stop for my husband Jamie as he drives between farms.
We would love to do a tour of the South Island with our boys. We have some awesome Matangi clients and chefs in Nelson, Wānaka and Queenstown. It would be great to get down there in the next year or two to meet them, soak up the scenery and hopefully get some skiing in at the same time.
